The Three Rooms of the Heart
To the hearts that were, the hearts that are,
And those still reaching for a star.
I sought the truth of this wild design,
To find where the human meets the divine.
For Love is a structure, steady and tall,
Built on three pillars or not at all.
The First is the Flare - Attraction
A sudden fever, a frantic grace,
The 99 percent in a fleeting chase.
Attraction, the spark that wakes the soul,
But a fire that burns without control.
It is the invitation, bright and brief,
As beautiful as a falling leaf;
The first to arrive in a golden haze,
And the first to vanish in the maze.
The Second is the Hearth- Affection
Where the spirit finds a place to rest,
And the "me" and "you" survive the test.
Affection, the shoulder, the steady hand,
The inertia that helps a soul to stand.
It turns the spark to a living glow,
Giving the roots the room to grow.
It builds the bridge from "now" to "next,"
A quiet song in a noisy text.
The Third is the Foundation - Commitment
Not a feeling found, but a promise made,
In the heavy sun and the lonely shade.
Commitment, the choice, the iron key,
The only force that sets us free.
While sparks are glitter and soft words fun,
This is the work that is never done.
It does not flee when the sky turns gray,
Or when the glitter fades away.
It is the peace in the dead of night,
The will to stay and hold the light.
Most will falter, most will part,
For it asks the whole of a human heart.
But for the few who cross that line?
They taste a joy that is truly divine.
So, here is to those who dared to stay,
And turned the "spark" to a permanent day.
And for the rest? Let the glasses clink.
Enjoy the party, and the drink.
